38th Whakatāne January Touch Tournament – Stall Site Permit Expression of Interest

We’re excited to be planning the 38th annual Whakatāne January Touch Tournament, taking place on:

? Friday 9th & Saturday 10th January 2026
? Whakatāne Rugby Park & Rex Morpeth Park, Bay of Plenty

With thousands of players, friends, and whānau expected to attend, we’re now calling for Expressions of Interest (EOIs) from vendors who want to serve up kai or sell goods at one of Aotearoa’s largest and most anticipated touch tournaments!

How to Apply

If you're interested in setting up a stall at our event, please read the following information carefully, then complete the online registration form linked below:

[Register Online Here]

Please note:

  • This is an Expression of Interest (EOI) process only – completing the form does not guarantee a site.

  • EOIs received by Wednesday 31st July 2025 will be prioritised during our selection process.

  • EOIs submitted after this date may still be considered to fill vacancies or withdrawals.

Important – Food Stall Permits

The Whakatāne January Touch Tournament Stall Site EOI and the Whakatāne District Council Food Stall Permit are two separate requirements.

If you are selling or serving food, you must:

  1. Complete the Whakatāne District Council Food Stall Permit Application

  2. Submit it directly to the Whakatāne District Council

  3. Upload a copy of your approved permit to your online EOI registration or email it to walker.mita@xtra.co.nz

? No food stall will be permitted to operate without a valid council food permit.
Random inspections by the council may occur throughout the event.

Site Preferences

During your EOI, you can indicate up to three preferred site locations (see map in the EOI form).

Please note:

  • We cannot guarantee your preferred site, as placement depends on operational needs (e.g. separating similar stalls etc.).

  • We will do our best to accommodate your request and will notify successful vendors of their allocated sites once confirmed.

What Happens Next?

To be considered for a stall site, we must receive:

  1. Your completed online Stall Site Permit EOI Registration

  2. A copy of your approved Whakatāne District Council Food Stall Permit (if applicable)

Following review, successful vendors will:

  • Receive confirmation by email

  • Be invoiced for the stall fee

  • Be notified of their allocated site closer to the event
