About Us

In 1986, a group of Whakatāne Touch players gathered together to initiate a tournament that would enable visiting Whānau to put their skills against their local counterparts. Today, the Annual January Whakatāne Touch tournament is one of the largest sporting club events in New Zealand.

Attracting the top sportsmen and celebrities alike each year from all across New Zealand and abroad, hundreds turn up to support and celebrate our Touch Community. 

After cancelling the 2021 & 2022 tournaments due to COVID-19, we were excited for our successful return in January 2023, 2024 and 2025! We look forward to getting better in the coming years.
